Doug Forbes is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. 

His areas of expertise include skills and employment forecasting, labour productivity in construction and sustainability assessment of the built environment in terms of social, economic and environmental aspects. He also has experience in whole life costing and risk management. 

Doug was responsible for developing on behalf of the Construction Industry Training Board the award winning Labour Forecasting Tool. His PhD, undertaken in the Construction Management Research Unit at the University of Dundee, examined the risks associated with the sustainability assessment of housing.   

He has extensive experience in managing development, research and consultancy projects. He has been the project manager for a €400,000 EU-funded project to transfer knowledge in sustainability assessment amongst six partner countries, and more recently a £108,000 Innovate UK feasibility study. 

He has a concurrent position as an honorary research fellow at the University of Dundee.
