The future of Scotland’s construction skills is being shaped in North Lanarkshire – and we’re proud to contribute.

On 22nd August 2025, Whole Life Consultants Ltd were thrilled to take part in the first Built Environment Skills Summit – a first-of-its-kind initiative by North Lanarkshire Council bringing together employers, training providers, educators, and industry leaders to shape a sustainable skills strategy in the construction sector.

Our Director, Doug Forbes, shared early findings from WLC’s labour demand analysis and chaired a panel on future skills and shortages. These insights will help ensure the right people, with the right skills, are in place to deliver the local area’s ambitious construction pipeline.

We were inspired by contributions from:

  • Andrew McPherson (Deputy Chief Executive, NLC)
  • Jeanette MacIntyre & David Lannigan (Built Environment Sector Board)
  • Lynsey Smith (Brighter Futures Manager, NLC)
  • Fiona Whittaker (Chief Officer, People Resources, NLC)

A valuable step towards a resilient and future-focused construction sector – and WLC is pleased to play a part.
